Disappointed ,service has been less than perfect ,although the lads that came to fit were top lads ,they are not the expert fitters you advertise ,your mechanic and fence erector are not expert building fitters.I take it also when the fitters report back about mitres not being correct which has come from the factory and leaves a job looking shoddy ,it would be professional to contact the customer ,but a week on and that has not happened. It is also an idea to inform customers before sale that the fitting only takes place on an evening or weekend .Also after reading up on not treating the raw wood immediately, after installation as recommended by you,it is said that the under floor should have been treated before installing ,but this was not offered .I will take it this will probably not be put on your review site, but felt customers should be aware ."
Dear Mrs Copley
I am sorry that you are disappointed but please allow me to address the points you have raised.
The staff that fit the cabins can be members of the sales team , fence erectors , joiners or mechanics, we do not have a dedicated team of cabin fitters as we could not employ them all year round. The men have all had lots of experience in fitting cabins and in our opinion are experts at what the do. We fit the cabins on a weekend and evenings in order to keep the costs down for the customers and it also gives our staff extra income. We do make it clear that we fit within these time frames when customers order but in your case this may not have been made clear for which I can only apologise.
Our fitters did explain that the facias that had been supplied with the cabin were cut at the wrong angle , this sometimes happens due to human error in the factory and in this situation we can on most occasions fabricate some new parts in our sawmill to finish the job rather than wait for new parts to be sent from Europe which is what we did. The cabin was installed on the Saturday and the new facias fitted on Thursday , this did take a little longer than normal due to the factory been busy.
I have spoken to the fitters and they have assured me that when they fitted the new facias they were fine and that you were satisfied with them.
The cabins will stand untreated for a few months and some people like to let them settle before painting but as with the unpredictability of our weather its advisable to paint them when the weather permits.
Again our fitters have pointed out though that when the buildings are painted straight away the paint can stick the timbers together and not allow them to move and since most of the movement will occur in the first few months its a catch 22 situation.
All the doors and windows are supplied with adjustable hinges so customers can tweak them when moment does occur. Again daylight may sometimes be seen between the boards when they have stuck together after painting in this situation they just needs tapping back into position.
When customers fit the cabins themselves they can paint the underside of the floor but this is not a service we offer , please rest assured we have been fitting the cabins for over 16 years and have fitted thousands of buildings. As the floor is sat on pressure treated timber there is never any contact with damp.
I am sure you will get many many years of service and enjoyment from your building and I hope that my answers have satisfied your concerns.
Regards Mark Atkinson "
