Weed membrane is laid under your deck framing to stop the growth of weeds; the membrane allows drainage. It is simple to lay down and simply needs to be held in place with pebbles or stakes at the corners.
Why use a weed membrane under decking
-
A weed-control membrane laid beneath your deck boards (and sub-frame) helps suppress vegetation, grass and weeds that might otherwise grow up through the boards or retain moisture around joists.
-
It helps keep the sub-base dry, especially if draining properly and using a ventilated design. It doesn’t replace good drainage/ventilation, but complements it.
-
It provides a clean foundation and controls weed growth.
